Bulk pickup for unincorporated WBR Parish is handled on a rotating weekly schedule by area:
| Week of Month | Area |
|---|---|
| 1st Full Week | Addis |
| 2nd Full Week | Brusly |
| 3rd Full Week | Intracoastal north to Hwy 190 |
| 4th Full Week | North of Hwy 190 to Mississippi River |
Bulk items include furniture, appliances (with doors removed), mattresses, and large yard debris. Do not place bulk items curbside more than 24 hours before your scheduled pickup week.
Reporting Issues
Missed pickups, damaged carts, or other collection problems can be reported through the parish's SeeClickFix portal. You can submit requests online or through the SeeClickFix app. The parish monitors these reports and coordinates with Waste Pro for resolution.
For urgent waste issues -- an overturned cart blocking the road, illegal dumping, or a hazardous spill -- call the WBR Parish at (225) 336-2406 directly rather than submitting a SeeClickFix request.
Holiday Collection Changes
Garbage and recycling collection schedules shift during major holidays. Waste Pro and the City of Port Allen typically observe the following holidays, which may delay your pickup by one day:
- New Year's Day (January 1)
- Mardi Gras Day (date varies)
- Memorial Day (last Monday in May)
- Independence Day (July 4)
- Labor Day (first Monday in September)
- Thanksgiving Day (fourth Thursday in November)
- Christmas Day (December 25)
When a holiday falls on your regular collection day, service is typically pushed back one day for the remainder of that week. For example, if your normal pickup is Tuesday and the holiday is Monday, expect Tuesday collection on Wednesday instead. Confirm any changes by calling Waste Pro at (225) 744-6400 or checking the parish website.
What You Can and Cannot Recycle in WBR
Curbside recycling in West Baton Rouge Parish accepts single-stream recyclables in your green recycling cart. Accepted items include:
- Paper and cardboard (flattened)
- Plastic bottles and containers (#1 and #2 plastics)
- Aluminum and steel cans
- Glass bottles and jars
Do not place the following in your recycling cart: plastic bags, styrofoam, food-contaminated containers, electronics, batteries, or yard waste. Contamination in the recycling stream can cause entire loads to be diverted to the landfill, so keeping your recycling clean matters.
